Mystery Blogger Award!

mystery

It’s Saturday, yay! I was going through some of my old posts and critiquing everything I’ve ever written when I saw a comment, dated from way back when, from the amazing blogger Olga’s Oddish Obsession (check out her blog, she’s hilarious!), nominating me for this award! Alarm bells went off, because I completely had a plan to do it but got sidetracked by life, work, and college. So I’ve finally sat down with a nice cup of tea and I’m going to the answer the questions today (sorry!)

The awesome original creator, Okoto Enigma, had the idea for this award for the following reason:

Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.

-Okoto Enigma

So let’s start with the rules:

  1. Put the award logo/image on your blog
  2. List the rules.
  3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  6. You have to nominate 10 – 20 people
  7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
  8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
  9. Share a link to your best post(s)

(That’s a lot of rules there, better get started!)

Firstly, 3 things about me (oh god, the pressure):

1.  I absolutely love anime and Studio Ghibli movies. This always surprises people when I tell them, because apparently I’m “not that type of person”, whatever the heck that means?

2. I’m hugely inspired by the Brothers Grimm, whose fairytales (and all their variations) made up a huge part of my childhood.

3. I want to try staying at a “haunted” hotel one day with my sister, because while we don’t exactly believe in anything paranormal, we have a huge interest in that kind of thing (and we love horror movies, go figure).

So, that’s 3 random things about me. Onto the main part (must scroll up to look at the rules again, I’ve already forgotten):

Here are the questions from Olga’s Oddish Obsession

1.What motivates you to get up in the morning when you feel your laziest?

College, mostly. I’m such a goody two-shoes, and I absolutely hate missing lectures. That’s not to say that I haven’t had a cheat day where I “accidentally” overslept and “had to” stay home. *Coughs*. Also, my job. I work in the mornings so if I don’t get my ass out of bed, I won’t get paid. And girl’s gotta get paid (I need books).

2. Do you plan out what you’re going to do the next day or are you a go-with-the-flow type of person?

I always make plans, at least mental ones. I have so many things going on and I’m super busy, so I often plan out how my day is going to go, just to juggle around all my commitments, work and leisure activities. That said, I’m also madly spontaneous; if I plan to get home at 8.30 and decide at 8.15 that I actually want to go see a movie, I’ll just go. Kinda negates the need for a plan, right?

3. What is your favorite time of the year and why?

Winter. As in, December. As in, Christmas time. I love Christmas, every since I was a child, because of all those stereotypical reasons: spending time with family, getting and giving gifts, belting out tunes at midnight while putting up the tree, etc etc.

4. Have you ever been stuck when writing new posts?

Um, yes. A lot, actually. Which is ridiculous, because how hard can it be to write posts under specific headings like “book review” or “Movie Monday”?! Sometimes I start writing really late and lose heart about halfway through, especially when I realise that the post is going to be super long, and it’s like 4 am and I’m getting squinty-eyed from exhaustion. Yup.

5. Weird: Would you be willing to bungee jump off a bridge with a thin rope tied around you for 3,000 followers and 1,000 likes?

Knowing my luck, I’d probably die straight away. Even if the thin rope is completely secure, I’d find some way to screw that up. Maybe a butterfly would happen to touch it softly while I’m flying through the air screaming and that would somehow snap it. That’s just the kind of stuff that happens, pure bad luck. So no, I don’t think I would; having followers isn’t worth it when you’re dead 🙂

That’s it! They were great to answer, so now I’ll add 5 of my own:

  1. What is the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
  2. If you could suddenly be an expert in any field at all, what would it be and why?
  3. Where is your favourite place to write your blog posts?
  4. If you could spend the day with your biggest inspiration, who would it be and what would you do? (Can be anyone at all, famous or not, living or passed on).
  5. Weird: If you were to run away and join the circus (non-animal using circus only), would you either be a trapeze artist, a fire-eater, a tight-rope walker or a unicyclist?

Oh, and before I forget, a link to my favourite post; I have lots of posts that I liked, but the one I had the most fun writing was:

  1. This is amazing!! I love reading your answers and you have a wild imagination if you truly believe a butterfly can ruin your fall.😂

    1. I’m not even joking; that is exactly the kind of nonsense that would happen to me because I have the WORST LUCK EVER. A single draft of wind caused by a bird flapping its wings above me would probably send me spiraling straight down!

      1. OH COME ON. If you want a race on who could have the worst luck in mundane history it is this gal with the pineapple shaped head. When I play a sport with a ball involved, there is never the possibility I won’t get knocked out. 😓

      2. Girl, hold UP. You’re not going to beat me on this; I can’t walk down the street without doing something to embarrass myself, whether it’s dropping all my stuff or tripping over air. And you don’t want to know how often I drop things at work (I’m a barista, it’s THAT bad!) 🙂

      3. Pft. That is hands down similar to gliding on clouds. 😉(HOW DO YOU HANDLE YOUR JOB?) Every time I present a project in front of the class I do something/anything ridiculous enough for them to speak about it for weeks!

      4. The job is the least of my worries, apart from dropping things! And omg I get your presentation problem! I HATE them so much, I actively try to pick college classes where they’re not included. I get so flustered and talk so fast it’s like I’m rapping 🙂

      5. At least your practicing hopefully ‘sick’ rap skills. Ooooo I’m not looking forward to that part in college… may God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and everyone in between bless you. I’ll even give up a chocolate bar so you don’t get unnerved under their stares!

      6. ‘Sick rap skills’? More like severely deranged! God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit aren’t enough to protect me, the presentations always find me either way. You’d have to give up a life’s supply of chocolate bars to stop me getting unnerved under their stares! 😦

      7. You make the presentations sound like the purge! Okay considering I’m staring at my brother’s chocolate bar box I don’t think I could do that BUT I can give up my love for broccoli…

      1. That’s the weird thing, I’m actually a huge adrenaline junkie and I love rollercoasters, but I just find the idea of dangling from a thin rope in the air terrifying! I’ll take the fastest rollercoasters over that any day.

  2. Thanks so much for the nomination!! ❤ It was so nice of you. Haunted places and ghost stories have always been something I've been interested in as well. However, I'm not sure I could actually stay in one. XD I would definitely get too freaked out. I have to plan as well, and I so agree about planning out post. Sometimes it's really hard, and I think you said it wonderfully. Great post and thanks so much again! 😀

  3. Congratulations on the award and thank you for nominating me!

It’s really cool that you are so inspired by the brothers Grimm and their fairytales, as creepy as they are they feel a bit truer to life in some ways.

Also, for the bungee jump thing, I would probably do it because I get impulses to do things that would possibly kill me, regardless of any reward. It’s not so much daring as it is stupid sometimes, but what can you do?

    1. Yay a fellow fan!!! My absolute favourite, and the first I ever saw, is Spirited Away. I also adore The Cat Returns and Howl’s Moving Castle. As for anime, I’m obsessed with Death Note, Attack on Titan and Fruits Basket, of all things 😀 I also watched one recently called Erase which I loved. What are your favourites???

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Ah, I loved The Cat Returns as a kid; I even have the original manga! My favorites are: Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, and Whisper of the Heart. I also really like Death Note and Attack on Titan! Have never seen Fruits Basket though. I think my all time favorite would have to be Steins;Gate. Currently, I’m watching Tokyo Ghoul, but I really want to check out Monster and Paranoia Agent. I like psychological thrillers, clearly. What’s your current anime (if there is one?) Or are there any you’d like to see in the future?

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Ah Steins;Gate is on my future list! I’m not watching any at the moment because I’m super busy, but I have started two that I hope to finish soon: Assassination Classroom (weird AF) and Death Parade (super cool). I think you’d like Erased if you’re into thrillers! Have you watched Sword Art Online by any chance?

      3. That’s what I’ve heard. To be honest, I felt the pacing was too all over the place for me to really enjoy it; like in under ten episodes, Kirito proposes to Asuna. And she wasn’t even in all ten episode. Like, I get that for them, time went by longer, but I didn’t care for their relationship because I felt it was underdeveloped.

      4. I understand what you mean, but I’ve got to admit I shipped them…at least until they got married. That was weird. I really only enjoyed the anime until they got out of the game, which happened way sooner than I would have liked.
