Desert Island Discs Tag!

desert-island-discs1

Hey, there! Happy Monday to you all, I hope your week is going well so far 🙂 I was tagged for this super fun tag by the amazing Laura @thebookcorps, thank you so much Laura! Everyone check out her blog, because she’s an awesome book blogger who writes great reviews!

Here’s How It Works:

  • Link back to my (BookBum’s) original post, so I can see all your answers! (Remember to do this via pingback, I don’t get notified if you just tag my url)
  • Thank the person(s) who tagged you… show some love!
  • Come up with your answers
  • Then tag others to keep the tag going!

Premise of the Desert Island Discs:

You are cast away onto a remote island:

  • You can bring 5 albums, what are they?
  • You can bring ONE book (not including The Bible (or other appropriate religious texts) or The Complete Works of Shakespeare, as they are already provided and NO SERIES), what ONE book is it?
  • You can have one luxury item (it has to be inanimate and can’t help you escape the island), what is it?

My Answers:

My 5 Albums:

(Confession time: I’m not an album person. Usually, I like individual songs by artists but never really like whole album’s worth of songs, with very few exceptions, lol. But here is my rather pathetic list):

  1. Back From The Edge by James Arthur

Like I said, I don’t listen to whole albums by artists because it’s the individual songs that stick out to me, but that being said this new album by James Arthur seriously impressed me. I honestly love 3/4 of the songs and really like all the rest, which is rare for me! And his voice….#slay

Favourite track: Train Wreck (stunning!)

2. Mad Love (Deluxe) by JoJo

I was so excited for a JoJo comeback, because I loved her back in the day. And she didn’t disappoint! Her songs are more personal and mature, and like with James Arthur, I ended up liking just about every song on the album rather than just two or three.

Favourite track: Clovers

3. English Rain (Deluxe) by Gabrielle Aplin

Gabrielle is such a talented, underrated songwriter and her songs are so beautiful! She has an amazing style, very mellow and Indie, and a beautiful voice. Her songs are perfect for emotional book scenes 🙂

Favourite track(s): Alive and Salvation (I honestly can’t choose!)

4. The Greatest Hits 1970-2002 by Elton John

Call me old school, because I totally am! I grew up with Elton John music, as well as other artists from the 80s (courtesy of my dad). So I absolutely love every single song by Elton John (they’re all beautiful), and his music gives me a nostalgia boost of road trips with my family as a child 😀

Favourite track: I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues

5. Disney Greatest Hits by Disney (obviously!)

I can’t go to a desert island by myself and not have my beloved Disney tunes with me! I mentioned before somewhere that Disney has had a huge impact on me from my childhood, so naturally bursting into my favourite Disney songs will keep me going!

Favourite track: ALL OF THEM! (But if I had to choose, then Can You Feel The Love Tonight by Elton John)

The Book:

I was going to say Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell, because I classify that as a favourite, but then I remembered that I would be stuck on a desert island for a while…and that book is quite sad (set during the American Civil War). So I’ve opted for A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. This is one of my all-time favourites, which surprised me. But I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of gushing over Rhysand, shipping him and Feyre, rereading the awesome scenes in this book, and generally fangirling over all the characters (my dream team!)

The Item:

This was surprisingly difficult to answer, because I’m not sure what I’d like to have with me if it isn’t for survival. So, after thinking long and hard, I think I’d either have a big book of puzzles (e.g. sudoku, wordsearches etc) to keep me entertained, or a notebook to write poems into. Either way, something to keep me occupied! I just hope that a pen doesn’t count as another luxury item 😉

And that is it! I had fun completing this tag, so thanks once again Laura! As for who I tag, well, I tag YOU! Sorry, I’m taking the easy way out. I have so many more tags and things to complete, so I’m going to leave this up to you to do, if it looks interesting to you! Have fun 🙂
