Songs on Saturday- My Six of Crows Playlist

Hello there! I really haven’t written a Songs on Saturday post in agessssss; in fact I think I’ve only posted one since I first introduced this feature, but I’m definitely going to post more! For those of you who don’t know, Songs on Saturday was something I introduced on my blog just to share some of my favourite music, and basically make music recommendations (while hopefully getting some in return!) I thought it would be a nice change to the usual book blogging, and because I love music so much it’s super fun and exciting.

This time, I wanted to do something a little different- from now on, along with just casual Songs on Saturday posts, I’m adding some additional features to it. Sometimes, I’ll have themes; for example a certain genre, or a topic (romance, rainy days, etc). But I’ve also added a “book playlist” category, as you can see in the title. Basically, every so often I’ll pick a book that had a particular impact on me and post the songs I feel matched it super well. I’ll also give a reason/quote for my choices. Because Six of Crows is the first book I’ve read in 2018 that has blown me away, I’ll start with that!

My Six of Crows Playlist

Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)

1. Song: A Day to Remember – End of Me

Genre: Rock               Youtube: End of Me

Reason: I think this perfectly sums up Kaz and Inej’s relationship!

“She’d laughed, and if he could have bottled the sound and gotten drunk on it every night, he would have. It terrified him.”

2. Song: Lorde – Everybody Wants to Rule the World

Genre:  Pop/Rock    Youtube: Everybody Wants to Rule the World

Reason: It’s perfect because of both the gang wars and the heist mission itself.

“Greed is your god, Kaz.”
He almost laughed at that. “No, Inej. Greed bows to me. It is my servant and my lever.”

3. Song: Linkin Park – Numb

Genre: Rock     Youtube: Numb

Reason: It suits Kaz; his personality, his image and his reputation.

“When everyone knows you’re a monster, you needn’t waste time doing every monstrous thing.”

4. Song: All Good Things – Fight

Genre: Alt Rock        Youtube: Fight

Reason: Epic song for six bad-ass people working together for the ultimate prize!

“We’ll be Kings and Queens, Inej. Kings and Queens.”

5. Song: Imagine Dragons – Radioactive

Genre: Alt Rock     Youtube: Radioactive

Reason: This song is perfect for anything, really. It’s just cool as fuck 😀

“No Mourners.
No Funerals.”

6. Song: SVRCINA – Who Are You?

Genre: Indie     Youtube: Who Are You?

Reason: This just describes every character; they each have something to hide, fears and insecurities, but they must trust each other to survive.

“A gambler, a convict, a wayward son, a lost Grisha, a Suli girl who had become a killer, a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse.”

7. Song: Imagine Music – Doom

Genre: Orchestral Music     Youtube: Doom

Reason: It’s super intense, and is perfect for the action scenes. If I could direct a movie, I’d use this for the trailer!

“They’d come to the Ice Court scurrying like rats. Live or die, they were going out like an army.”

8. Song: Anne Dudley – Resurgam

Genre: Orchestral Music     Youtube: Resurgam

Reason: I was listening to this piece of music during that scene with Kaz and Inej towards the end, and it’s just soooo emotional!!

“I will have you without armor, Kaz Brekker. Or I will not have you at all.”

And that is it! Thank you so much for reading. If you liked any of the songs, or more importantly, if you have your own playlist/suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them! Until next time 🙂
